Another Reason You Need Colloidal Silver: 50% of U.S. Meat Supply Tested Now Contaminated With Deadly MRSA Pathogen!
Only a few short weeks ago I reported that as much as 14% of the U.S. meat supply has become contaminated with the deadly MRSA pathogen. What’s lurking in the meat you’re buying for your family?
Plenty of disease-causing bacteria, according to a new study, published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases.
Almost HALF of all the beef, chicken, pork, and turkey bought in five U.S. cities and sampled by researchers, was found to contain drug-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus, also known as MRSA, reports CBS News.
That’s up from only 14% in studies conducted late last year. In other words, the problem with MRSA contaminated meats is growing by leaps and bounds!
Each year, MRSA kills more people in the U.S. than AIDs. Hospitals now take extraordinary precautions to prevent its spread in surgical wards. Schools in a number of states have been closed to stop its spread. Even football games have been postponed when players have become infected. So its spread into the U.S. food supply is extremely problematic.

In the new nationwide study, researchers analyzed 136 samples of 80 brands of beef, chicken, pork and turkey purchased at 26 retail stores in five cities: Chicago; Flagstaff, Ariz.; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Los Angeles; and Washington, D.C.
The results showed that 47 percent of the samples were contaminated with S. aureus, and that 52 percent of the bacteria were resistant to at least three classes of antibiotics.
DNA testing suggests that the food animals themselves were the major source of contamination with S. aureus, said the researchers at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) in Phoenix.
The study was published in the April 15issue of the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases.
“For the first time, we know how much of our meat and poultry is contaminated with antibiotic-resistant Staph, and it is substantial,” said study senior author Lance B. Price, director of TGen’s Center for Food Microbiology and Environmental Health.
“The fact that drug-resistant S. aureus was so prevalent, and likely came from the food animals themselves, is troubling, and demands attention to how antibiotics are used in food-animal production today,” he added.
Even though cooking kills the pathogen, it is easily spread during the food preparation process. This makes it critical to clean cutting boards, kitchen countertops, food preparation utensils and anything else the meat may have come into contact with (including your hands) with a powerful disinfectant like colloidal silver.
More importantly, you need to have colloidal silver on hand in case you or a family member comes down with a potentially deadly MRSA infection.
Does Colloidal Silver Really Kill MRSA?
Let me briefly summarize just four of those studies for you now. You may have seen some of this information in previous ezines I’ve sent, but at this point in time it’s critical to understand how truly effective colloidal silver is against MRSA:
Case #1: A Brigham-Young Clinical Study Proves Silver Kills MRSA – In this study, conducted quietly in October 2006 at the Department of Microbiology/Molecular Biology of Brigham-Young University, and published in the journal Current Science, Vol. 91, No. 7, October 10, 2006, it was found that a number of the antibiotic drugs which formerly killed MDR (multiple drug-resistant) pathogens such as MRSA could actually be restored to full efficacy against the deadly pathogens, but only if a colloidal silver solution was used in conjunction with the drug!
Since these antibiotic drugs had previously lost their effectiveness against the super pathogens, this study clearly demonstrated that the silver was the deciding factor in the deaths of the deadly drug-resistant pathogens!
Case #2: Iranian Clinical Study Proves Silver Increases Effectiveness of Antibiotic Drugs Against Staph – This study, called “Synthesis and effect of silver nanoparticles on the antibacterial activity of different antibiotics against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.” was conducted by the Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Medical Nanotechnology Research Center, Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at the University of Tehran, Iran. It demonstrated that the addition of silver to three specific antibiotics (vancomycin, amoxicillin and penicillin) almost magically renews their effectiveness against today’s most deadly pathogens, including MRSA (methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus).
Say what you will about the Iranians, but when they do a medical study, they do it up right. Apparently Iranian scientists were two full months ahead of the Brigham-Young team I mentioned in Case #1 above in proving that the addition of silver particles to antibiotic drugs boosts their ability to kill resistant staphylococcus aureaus – the MRSA pathogen.
Case #3: Taiwanese Clinical Study Proves Colloidal Silver By Itself Kills MRSA – Another study, this one conducted by the Department of Textile Science, Nanya Institute of Technology, Chung-Li, Tao-Yuan, Taiwan and published in the journal Colloids Surface B Biointerfaces in October 2007, also demonstrated that silver colloids kill both MRSA and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, another deadly and extremely opportunistic superbug. In this study, a special colloidal silver solution was tested on contact surfaces where the deadly pathogens are known to colonize, and from which they can spread to humans. The silver solution proved to be completely effective against both the MRSA and Pseudomonas super pathogens!
Case #4: Czech Clinical Study Proves Silver Particles Kill MRSA – This study was conducted at the Department of Physical Chemistry at Palacky University in the Czech Republic. It was later published in the prestigious Journal of Physical Chemistry B in August 2006. Titled “Silver colloidal nanoparticles: synthesis, characterization, and their antibacterial activity,” the study demonstrated that “…silver particles with a narrow size distribution with an average size of 25 nm showed high antimicrobial and bactericidal activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including multi-resistant strains such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).”
