Feed grade diatomaceous earth should be used at a rate of 5% of the dry weight of animal feed for deworming and 2% of the dry weight of animal feed for maintenance and added health benefits provided by the silica, trace elements and toxin binding properties.

To ensure accuracy, measure beforehand the quantity of feed you wish to produce. After the weight of feed has been established, measure out the correct amount of DE before you add it to the feed.
Pour the pre-measured diatomaceous earth directly onto the feed and mix it in. Make sure to distribute the diatomaceous earth equally for more effective results. Also, diatomaceous earth works best if the feed is cool and dry. The mixture should be smooth before feeding it to the animal.
Food grade DE can be consumed daily when kept to a maximum of 2% per dry weight of animal feed. After you've had the chance to notice the difference, why not share your experience with adding DE to your animal's feed below?
